Hi all!

Welcome to the updated location for your latest and greatest in 5th grade news! We’d like to start by saying THANK YOU for your time and engagement during our Student Led Conferences. It was great to have you visit our room and we enjoyed sharing our work.

We kicked off November with the introduction of CREW Call Outs! Ask your student about this system– it’s a way to celebrate our ability to be compassionate, respectful, engaged and welcoming, and we’ve been having a lot of fun brainstorming how we like to be recognized for our hard work.

In math, we’ve been tackling dividing with fractions. We’ve learned a few tricks along the way, and are preparing for an assessment this week.

We’ve also continued to work on our fall expedition. We’ve learned about the key components of a memoir, and read examples written by 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th graders here. We’ll head to the University of Idaho with our written drafts on Thursday for our final working day with our Conversation Partners (please let me know if you’re available to drive!). Our crew has brought great energy to this project and I’m really enjoying seeing the writing they are doing. Stand by for more information on how we’ll celebrate this project at the end of the semester– it’s likely that we’ll have the opportunity to display our final works on campus.
