Palouse Prairie Charter School’s 4th Grade students constructed three bull boats out of canvass or moose hide and willow branches to model the type of boats the Nez Perce people would use for children, women and the elderly to escape quickly across rivers from pursuing American troops. They were able to successfully navigate the Snake River near Chief Timothy State Park (Clarkston, Wa.).
