Ms. French’s 5th & 6th Grade Totems

5th & 6th graders in Ms. French’s class read the book Touching Spirit Bear and like the main character, they had to choose which animals they would place on their totems. They chose based on the animal meanings that are traditionally used on coastal tribes’ totems. Along with the totems, they wrote a 5 paragraph essay related to restorative justice. Their focus was healing only happens when one forgives those that have wronged them.
