MOSCOW, ID — The Palouse Prairie Charter School has been saving money for building a new school since they opened ten years ago.
Their current building is an old furniture store with classrooms separated by shelves not walls.
The new school site located on the end of Powers Avenue in Moscow is everything the school has wanted and more. Finally having walls means each classroom can interact without disturbing the other.
There will be a hydroponics lab where students will grow food they can later eat as part of their lunch program.
The new electronic security system will make the school safer and a climbing wall along the walls of a multi-use room.
“We’ve consistently had wait lists in our classrooms and a lot of families wanting to enroll in kindergarten I don’t know if we’ve seen an increase but just less hesitation and more excitement about enrolling in our school,” said Jeneille Branen, Executive Director.
The school is still looking for donations. One of the main items is playground equipment or funds to purchase equipment.
The charter school is set to open this coming 2019-2020 academic year this August.
The project is on time and on budget.
