Nina Staszkow is a new addition to Palouse Prairie School and will lead a fourth/fifth-
grade class this year. She is thrilled to begin this adventure in education and share her
knowledge and experiences with her new students. Nina wants to make learning fun and
interactive while providing a safe and caring classroom environment. Her goal is to be
a well-rounded teacher who motivates and provides learning in a positive and respectful
manner.

This past school year, Nina drove by Palouse Prairie School regularly on her way to
Genesee Elementary School. She worked 12 weeks as a first-grade student teacher in the
fall. She was a substitute teacher in Moscow, Genesee, Troy, and Potlatch until April
when she returned to Genesee as a full-time, long-term, fifth-grade substitute teacher. She
loved working with this age group.

Nina’s other educational experiences include two years as a paraprofessional in the
Moscow School District. She worked in elementary Title I reading and in special
education. Nina also has been a parent volunteer in her children’s school for six years.

Before becoming a teacher, Nina worked five years as a news reporter for the Moscow-
Pullman Daily News covering government and education. She met her husband, Craig, at
the paper and Moscow has been their home for 15 years. Staszkow rhymes with Moscow!

Nina worked part-time in real estate while her children Brooke and Isaac were young.
Brooke is now 12 and Isaac is 9. She also has two dogs, Vandal and Victory. In addition
to watching her children’s sporting events, Nina also likes playing softball, reading, and
volunteering.
